John A. Freeman, D.D.S., M.S.D., Inc.
Dr. Freeman has an extensive educational background with memberships to several professional orthodontic associations. He stays current with the latest orthodontic technologies and treatment procedures with continuing education. By participating in continuing education opportunities, Dr. Freeman is able to provide his patients with the most advanced treatment options available.
Dr. Freeman finds enjoyment in all that this area has to offer, and is always happy to know that he is helping to keep the San Luis Obispo and Atascadero communities smiling!
The son of a dedicated local Surgeon and the most joyful, loving mother anyone could imagine, Dr. John A. Freeman grew up in San Luis Obispo from the age of 3 along with his two sisters and one brother. He played soccer and tennis in high school and attended UCLA for college and the University of Washington for Dental School and Orthodontic School. He met Joyce at UCLA and they married in SLO at the Mission before Dental School. They returned to SLO after Orthodontic School then with a toddler son and a new baby daughter and John started orthodontic practices in SLO and Atascadero. They added another daughter a few years later.
Dr. Freeman keeps quite active not only with ongoing professional training but also serving in our local AYSO organization as a soccer coach and coach instructor. Eleven different years Dr. Freeman also could be seen on stage at the PAC in December, dancing as one of the “fathers” in The Nutcracker. (This he did with some combination of one of his daughters, his niece, his mom and one of his sisters) He loves to participate in nearly any sport, especially soccer (which he plays in an adult league with his brother) and snow skiing (which he does every winter with his now-adult kids). Otherwise, he likes attending any big sporting event with Joyce who is a passionate sports fan.
Dr. John Freeman loves how he gets to share in his patients’ lives as he brings about their best smiles. He feels strongly that getting teeth straight is only half of the job. Positioning these straight teeth in the correct location in 3D to best compliment a patient’s facial features is what really takes the beauty of their smile to the next level and makes it look truly “right”. He knows from personal experience the tremendous impact that can come from a boost in self-confidence that is created by improving one’s smile.
